East from Perth and 340 Kms East of Geraldton. Mt Magnet was discovered in 1854
but was not until gold was found in 1892 that it developed. The main industries
are pastoral and gold mining. It has a population of about 700 people.
Yalgoo
- Located 524 Kms from Perth and 220 Kms East from
Geraldton and 120 Kms West from Mt Magnet. Yalgoo was established in 1891 when
the Murchison Goldfields were discovered. The population is around 120 and the
main industry is pastoral
Cue
- Located 649 Kms from Perth and 82 Kms North of Mt
Magnet. The population is around 200 with the main industry being pastoral.
Meekatharra
- Located 760 Kms from Perth and 193 Kms North of Mt
Magnet. Meekatharra is the centre of mining, sheep and cattle, and has a
population of around 700.
Sandstone
- Located 659 Kms from Perth and 158 Kms East of Mt
Magnet.
