Parishes » Shark Bay (Denham)
| The Revd Ron and Mrs Leslie Campbell minister to the Anglican community of Shark Bay.
Denham Post Office, Shark Bay is located 831 kms north of Perth in the Gascoyne Region that encompasses Denham, Monkey Mia, and Useless Loop. Shark Bay is steeped in history from the tip of Dirk Hartog Island to the boundary of Hamelin Pool where the old telegraph station still stands. Discovered by the Dutch, named by the French and surveyed and settled by the English, the area has both astounded and fascinated visitors for centuries. The name Shark Bay comes from the name given to the area by William Dampier who in 1699 called it "The Bay of Sharks". The Parish Church situated in Denham is St Andrew's by the Sea (built 1954). The church is built of shell blocks locally quarried from Hamelin Pool.
