Hedland spotlights Jesus

Hedland Anglican Church has started an Evangelism Workgroup to help build God's church in the mining town, Rector Eion Simmons said.

“We want to pray for, and encourage, each other and our church in personal evangelism, and organise and facilitate evangelistic events.

"As a first step, we're going to implement a spot in our Sunday services where a church member briefly shares something they love about Jesus, or an evangelism story.

“I’m so encouraged because two members of the workgroup of six have never been involved in this sort of thing before.”

Eion was motivated by attending the recent 2025 Perth Gospel Partnership conference on evangelism.

“Sometimes when I've read books about evangelism I've just felt like a failure. After this conference, I just want to tell people about Jesus and I have a few more tools in my toolkit to do this.

"For example, tell someone something you love about Jesus. Why not try it with another Christian to start with; or around the family dinner table get everyone to share one thing they love about Jesus.

"We'd love your ongoing prayer as we seek to tell people in Hedland about how amazing Jesus is."
